Blog Spotlight #1 - Through The Booking Glass

Meet Jenny and Tina from Through The Booking Glass and be sure to check out their Facebook Page throughout the day for A Chance to win Jenny's favorite Beth Rinyu read: A Cry For Hope

Tell everyone a little about your blog and how it was formed:

Jen: Hi! I'm Jennifer Sons(Jen) & I have Through the Booking Glass blog(TTBG). It fairly new but growing fast! In November, authors Rhonda Dennis & Marie Coulson contacted me to start it. I didn't think I could do it by they believed in me. Marie helped me get everything up & running. Today we have over 3,550 likes. I immediately recruited my BFF, Tina Leonard, to help me & later recruited Liz Landry as a reviewer.

Tina: Hi I'm Tina & I'm Jenny's partner in crime here at TTBG. This is our very 1st interview, so thank you!

What was the very first book that you've read that made you realize your love of books?

Jen: Oh gosh, that's a tough one! I read as a teenager the "Sweet Valley High" books but it wasn't until I read the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich as an adult that got me hooked! I may or may not have a one-click problem now!

Tina: Redemption (The Redemption Series)By Karen Kingsbury would be the series that got me hooked into reading again. I started off only reading Christian authors, Karen being my favorite. Reading for the blog has opened up so many different genres & authors that are awesome!

Do you remember the very first book you reviewed?

Jen: The 1st for TTBG was Back to Life (#1) and Back To Reality(#2) by Danielle Allen. After that I knew I could do it!

Tina: Emerge By S.E. Hall I believe was my first review. There has been so many!

How many books on average do you read in a month?

Jen: Usually 3-4 books a month, depending on how busy I am.

Tina: I would say I read about 2 or 3 books. It just depends on how fast the book captures my attention!

If you could be trapped on an island for one whole day with any book boyfriend who would it be?

Jen: OMG! Really?!! Lol My very 1st book boyfriend is Jackson from The Green Bayou Novels by  Rhonda Dennis so I'll go with him!

Tina: Oh wow this is a hard one! I'm gonna go with Seth Montgomery from That's a Lie by Victoria  Klahr. So sweet & hot!

Do you prefer paperbacks or e-books?

Jen: I love to collect paperbacks but I have to read on my kindle.

Tina: Exactly! I would say E Books are just more convenient.

Boy next door or Bad boy?

Jen: What if the boy next door is a bad boy? I like the bad boys that meet the one girl that's strong enough to straighten them up like Will & Gabby.

Tina: I always go for the Bad Boy! It's just my nature!

Which female character from which book to do find that you most relate to?

Jen: I just read 21 Days Of Jane by Yolanda Olson. Jane is in a wheelchair. I have LGMD & also in a chair so I had an instant connection! Definitely not my situation but I related to a lot of her struggles.

All-time favorite book quote?
Jen: I don't really have a fav book quote but my fav quote is by Audrey Hepburn,

"I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles."

Tina: This segment is from Rules of Regret by Megan Squires really touched me! I think it's beautiful!

" I can't waste my heart on you, Darby. As much as I want to". Knotting my fingers together, I asked with insecure, frustrated words," why would it be a waste?" "Because I can't have yours."

If you could have an author write a book using any male celebrity as their muse, who would it be?
 Jen: Hmmm?!! Zac Efron

Tina: I would have to say Chris Pine to be their muse.

What is your biggest turn-off in a romance novel?

Jen: I can't stand when there's no build up to sex. Just slam bam thank you mame! Also, love triangles UNLESS they are done right without the annoying rich girl who can't decide!

Tina: I can't stand sex & cursing on every other page! Is definitely a big turn off for me! I need a plot & a good story. I don't need  F@$k 50 times on a page.

For your book boyfriends… Do you prefer them covered in tattoos and piercings or clean cut?

Jen: I don't mind tats & a few piercings just not excessive.

Tina: I would like my book boyfriends to have a few tattoos, but I also like the clean cut look!

Do you judge a book by its cover?

Jen: Most of the time, yes! If it catches my eye, I go to Goodreads & read the blurb.

Tina: Yes I do judge a book by it's cover. That's what gets me in trouble with the one click.

When it comes to sex scenes are you:

a. Hand me a fan, I can’t take my eyes off the pages of this book!

b. Ahhhh they're so in love, I’d like to hear about some of the details.

c. Close the door I know what they're doing but I could use my own imagination, thank you very much!

Jen: it depends the mood but most of the time it's "B".

Tina: "B" for me too!

If you could have one book turned into a movie and you could pick the actors to play the parts, which book would it be and which actors would you choose?

Jen: I would love to see A Cry For Hope turned into a movie, I think it has all the great elements! Rachel McAdams will be Hope, Zac Efron(of course) will be Jamie & Ian Somerhalder will be Nick.

Tina: oh that's a good one Jen! I can't pick there's to many! Haha.

And last but not least, totally not book related but just something I always like to ask people...What’s your favorite Disney movie?

Jen: My fav at the moment is Frozen. We have a slight obsession to it!

Tina: Finding Nemo is always my go to Disney movie! Just keep swimming! Just keep swimming!

Jen: Thank you so much!
Tina: Yes! Thank you! We both really appreciate the interview!

Thank you girls for taking the time to let us get to know you a little better!

Blogger Appreciation Spotlight

I know that my books wouldn't be reaching nearly as many people as they have if it wasn't for all of the blogs that read, review, promote and share them. These ladies don't get paid to do this. They do it strictly for their love of books and to help authors out.  They go above and beyond and truly do it out of the goodness of their heart.

I'm sure all of you have seen Author Spotlights on blogs, where the blog features an author and interviews them so readers could get to know them a little better. Well, I've decided to change things up a bit and do Blogger Spotlights all this week on my blog. So everyone can get know know these wonderful blogs a little better. I have a lot of fun questions lined up that these girls will be answering starting tomorrow and make sure you become a fan of each of their Facebook pages, because they might just be having a little flash giveaway of their favorite Beth Rinyu book.

Here are some of blogs that will be featured:

 Through The Booking Glass

To All Of My Loyal Readers.....

I just want to give a special thanks to all of my loyal readers. The one's that took a chance on me from my very first book, The Exception to The Rule and have followed me ever since. The one's that I connected with over a sexy Irish guy named, Dailan O'Maley. The one's that were just introduced to me by having their hearts torn to pieces in A Cry For Hope and reading every one of my other books thereafter. To you guys I say THANK YOU because there are MANY days where I just want to stop this whole publishing stuff. Not writing, I will never do that and will always continue even if it's just for myself or just a select few - it's my addiction and my therapy. Some people have shopping, some people have food mine is my writing.

I've met a lot of great people along the way that I consider very good friends and a few not so great ones, but the whole journey has been a true learning experience and and an eye opener. I've learned that promoting a book is harder than writing it, that writing for yourself  as if no one else will read it is the best type of writing you can do, not everyone is going to think your "baby" is as perfect as you do - in other words learn to take criticism gracefully and not like a spoiled three year old who doesn't get their way. But the most important thing I've learned is your true readers will stick with you no matter what. They will tell others about your books and they will buy your books no matter what the price. Which gets me to my whole point of this post (yes, there is a point). I thought long and hard for the pricing of A Will To Change I wanted to do something special just for my loyal readers. I thought about releasing at .99 cents for the first few days but was told by a few of my friends that had read the story that it was worth so much more than that and that my true readers wouldn't mind paying an extra $2.00. Well, turns out they were right. I have no problem with .99 cent sales. I, personally try not do it often only because I know how much time and effort goes into writing a book. I will do one occasionally to celebrate a special occasion or to promote a new release in a series. I have connected with a lot of new fans in doing so but my heart was telling me that Will and Gabby's story was so worth $2.99. So thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I don't think I need to tell any of you who I am referring to....I'm sure you already know!

PS....And a great big thank you from Will & Gabby xo

A Will To Change ~ Chapter 1

CHAPTER 1
WILL

    ©Beth Rinyu 2014

I lifted my head from the pillow, feeling like I had been run over by a freight train. Clearly, this was my body's way of telling me that I was getting too old to be partying this way, but I was going to ignore it for as long as I could. I knew better than anyone that you only live once so you may as well make it memorable. Once my eyes focused, I realized I was in Delia's bed, the woman I had sworn myself away from. But, after my eighth shot of Jack and one too many beers, I guess I had thrown all sense of reasoning out the window. I would have much rather been waking up next to that cute little waitress who had been flirting with me all night.

I sat up, grabbed my pants from the floor and pulled them up. I reached inside the pocket for my phone to check the time and found a text from my sister-in-law.

Don't forget it’s your mom's b-day.

Oh, fuck. I totally forgot. Now I would just have to pay double to have flowers delivered to her today.
“Hey, where are you going?” Delia asked as she sat up on her elbow. Black smudges were swirled around her eyes like a raccoon.

“I gotta get. I have some things to do before my shift starts,” I said, bending down to tie my shoe.

“Liar. You’re off for the next three days.”

Was I? Damn, this bitch knew my schedule better than I did.

“Yeah, well, I got lots to do today. It’s my mom’s birthday.” She didn’t need to know that my mother was lucky to even get a phone call from me, and that was if I still remembered after I slept it off.
“Well, am I going to see you tonight?”

“Um...I don't think so.”

She stuck out her bottom lip and pretended to pout. Normally that would work on me, but not anymore.
“Oh, come on, Will. Albert is only going to be in Florida until Friday. Let’s make the most of it.”

Albert was Delia's much older husband; as in, he was seventy-two and she was thirty. He liked having a young, hot wife on his arm for all of his social functions, and she liked his bank account. She had everything that she wanted…a posh penthouse on the upper east side, a beautiful set of tits, diamonds strung around her neck, shoes that probably cost more than I made in a month. All paid for by said bank account. The only thing she was missing was a guy in her bedroom that was closer to her age, and that's where I came in.
At first, I was happy to accommodate her needs, but now it was just starting to get old. The sex was good enough and she certainly wasn’t afraid to try new things. But she was starting to become needy, almost as if she wanted some type of commitment from me. That’s where I drew the line. I was commitment phobic and wasn't ashamed to admit it. I could never imagine myself with one woman for the rest of my life. The mere thought of the same piece of ass forever depressed me. It was like settling for one type of liquor when there was a whole bar full to be sampled. Not to mention that I had to live up to my parent's very low expectations of me.

“Sorry, Delia, not tonight. We need to take this down a notch.” I stood up and buttoned up my pants.
She sat up quickly and got out of bed, wrapping the sheet around herself.

“What the hell are you talking about?” she asked, as she frantically followed me out of the bedroom.

“Delia, you’re a great girl and I like you, I really do, but it’s just getting old now. You’re married and –.”

“Oh no! Don’t you dare play that card, you son of a bitch! You couldn’t give two shits about that when I was sucking your dick last night.”

“Sweetheart, I was so drunk last night that a fuckin’ Sports Illustrated swimsuit model could have been sucking my dick and I wouldn’t have remembered. But I’m sure you were great, just like always.”

“I can’t believe you’re doing this.”

“Doing what? What did you think? That you and I were in some type of monogamous relationship or something? You’re married and I don’t tie myself down to one girl. These are things that we both knew going in. So why are you going all psycho on me now?”

“You used me, Will!”

I couldn’t control my laughter. “I used you? How the fuck did I use you? You’re the one that needed someone to be a fill-in for your decrepit husband that can’t get it up, and I was just happy to provide those services. So, in a way, you used me. Just have Albert buy you some new diamond earrings when he gets back, pop a few Viagra’s in his orange juice, and everything will be just fine.”

She lunged toward me and pushed me as hard as she could, not even budging me, causing the sheet to come off of her in the process. “You’re a fuckin’ asshole!” she shouted.

I looked over her naked body one last time. I had to admit, I was going to miss those tits and that perfect ass. “Better to be a fuckin’ asshole than an asshole gettin’ fucked.”

Her jaw dropped and her eyes narrowed. I gave her a quick grin before making my exit, just as I heard her heave what sounded like a very heavy object at the closed door, which I’m sure was intended for my head. While I stood in the hallway and waited for the elevator, I pulled out my phone and texted my sister-in-law back.

Hope, did I ever tell you that you’re my favorite sister-in-law?

Her reply came through just as I stepped into the elevator and hit the L button.

I’m your only sister-in-law.What’s your credit card number and how much do you want to spend?

I pulled out my credit card and punched the numbers into my phone. “Happy birthday, Mom,” I said, leaning my head on the elevator wall. When I stepped out and into the lobby, I instinctively reached for my sunglasses on top of my head, only to find that they weren’t there. Somehow, I didn’t think that the bright August sunlight streaming through the window and my throbbing head would mesh too well. After last night, I couldn’t even imagine where they were. I was surprised that I actually still had my wallet on me. Oh, well. Another pair bites the dust. Too bad they had to be my favorite two hundred dollar pair of Oakley’s.
I squinted as I stepped outside. It felt like it was a hundred degrees already and it was only a little after seven.

“Hey, Mr. McAdams. Are you putting out any fires today?” Jeffrey, the doorman for Delia’s apartment building, asked.

“No, but I think I may have started one on the top floor.” I smirked.

He shook his head and smirked back. I could tell that he was doing his best to hold back his laughter. I was pretty sure that he was up to speed on all the dirt of the tenants in the building. “Have a good one, Jeffrey,” I said as I hailed down a cab with nothing else on my mind except my own bed and being passed out cold in it within the next twenty minutes.

A Will To Change Cover Reveal & Giveaway

In A Cry for Hope you meet Jamie’s carefree younger brother, Will. Now read his story…

Will McAdams is a New York City firefighter who has always lived in the shadow of his older brother, never quite measuring up to his parents standards. He lives his life without regrets, and answers to no one. The women love him and he uses that to his advantage, making it clear that he only has one use for them.

Gabby Spencer is a nurse in the burn unit of a busy New York City hospital. Her guarded personality doesn’t allow many people into her life and her patients take the place of her lack of family. She masks the pain that she is harboring deep inside with quick wit and sarcasm.

When Will becomes one of Gabby’s patients they form a special bond and soon become each other's solace. But Will doesn’t see her like every other woman in his life. She means the world to him and he feels an underlying need to always protect her – most of all from himself. Even though he wants her more than he’s ever wanted any other woman, he’s not willing to take that next step and jeopardize everything they have. When jealousy and pain begin to overtake their once perfect friendship, will Will's fear of falling in love and never measuring up, cause him to lose the one and only woman to ever own his heart?

Excerpt

Gabby rambled on until our food came, only stopping when her eyes lit up at the size of her burger.
“Told ya!” I teased.
“Told me what?” she asked, taking a bite of her fry.
“I saw the look on your face when you saw the size of that burger.”
“This little thing?” she asked, looking down at her plate. I nodded. “Oh please, Will. I’ve had bigger ones than this in my mouth.” I almost spit my ice tea all over the place. “I meant burgers, pervert!”
“Mmm, hmmm. I bet you did!” She smirked as she smothered her burger in ketchup and relish. “Geez, Gabby. Why don’t you have some burger with your ketchup and relish?”
“I love ketchup!” she said, licking it off her fingers.
“I can see that!”
“Don’t you?” she asked, opening her mouth wide and taking a bite.
“Yeah, but not half the bottle. Definitely not relish, though.”
“Mmmm….you don’t know what you’re missing!” she said, taking another huge bite. “Here, taste.” She held the burger up to my mouth.
“Gabby, it’s drenched in -.”
“Come on, Will. Don’t be afraid to try new things.” I opened my mouth and took a bite. It wasn’t half bad. “Not bad, is it?” she asked with her adorable grin as she picked up the napkin and wiped the ketchup off my face.
I took the top bun from my burger. “Lay it on me, Gabby girl!”
She held her hand up to give me a high five before picking up the bottle of relish and ketchup. “Woohoo! Sister Gabby has made you seen the error of your ways. Bless you, Will,” she giggled.
She squirted on the ketchup and relish, and lifted her burger up to her mouth. “Come on, Will. Let’s do it together,” she teased in an overly sexy voice.
“You are a piece of work, you know that?” I chuckled.
She took a bite of her burger at the same time as me. I never thought that someone could actually look adorable chewing food, but Gabby proved that theory wrong. She swallowed it down and took a sip of her milk shake. “Was it good for you?” she asked. Neither one of us were able to control our laughter. It didn’t get any better than being here with her.

Just a Quick Little Hello....

It's been so long since I blogged that I almost forgot my password. I've been super busy with writing, finding the perfect cover, editing and life in general. I will be publishing my next book A Will To Change.....the companion novel to A Cry For Hope, next month. I know I need to slow down it down a bit but when an idea strikes me I have to keep going until the entire story is out of my head. This story hit me as I was finishing up with A Cry For Hope and created the character of her brother in law, Will. Something told me the minute that he jumped into the pages (actually on the computer screen) of that book that he had his own story to tell.....and boy does he ever! I will be sharing the cover with everyone in exactly one week!. I hope that you guys will love just as much as me!
I am also working on another story that I will be releasing sometime in the fall. The entire story came to me just by looking at a set of pictures (one of which I will be using for my cover) from a very talented photographer. I will be adding the synopsis to Goodreads very soon!

And for all my 40 + readers (like myself) the next book that's in my head and waiting to be typed out is going to be about a 40 something protagonist....that won't be releasing until sometime next year. I've had the idea for this one in my head for a while and kept pushing it back because the characters in all these other books have been talking louder to me. But once I'm done with my current WIP, I plan on shutting everyone else up and concentrating fully on this one.
So, that's my quick little update on what 's been going on with me! I'm going to TRY and keep up with this blogging stuff more often....Until then xo!
